## Solution

The primary focus of Check Point's IPS signature team is to produce coverage that protects vulnerabilities from being exploited. Protecting vulnerabilities from exploit provides a broader and more proactive protection than merely writing exploit signatures.

The utmost priority is to produce protection against high-severity, newly discovered vulnerabilities and exploits.

Rapid protection against any new high-severity threat is critical, and when these occur, we operate in an "around the clock, high-severity focus" until the protection is produced and delivered to Threat Cloud for our customers. IPS signature update times are as follows:

* Standard protection updates are delivered to Threat Cloud once a week.

* Our goal for protection against new, high-severity threats (for example, zero-day) is sub-24 hours, usually a mere few hours.

* In most cases, we deliver protections within 24 hours after the monthly MS Patch Tuesday, since we treat it as a high-severity threat and release it as if it were a zero-day vulnerability.
