# sk98813 - Error when uploading minor upgrade package in Gaia Portal

## Symptoms

- Error message when uploading a minor upgrade package in Gaia Portal.

On R76:

`"The file was not uploaded successfully. Please check server logs."`

## Cause

Gaia Portal upgrade page should be used to upload (and install) ***major*** upgrade packages only.

A major upgrade package should be a TGZ file and it will usually have "*_upg_*" in its name.

The error message suggests that the uploaded file was not a major upgrade package. It might have been a minor upgrade package only (i.e., to upgrade within the same major version, e.g., from R77 to R77.10) where in such case it should be installed not via this page - see solution below for details.
