## Symptoms

- * SmartEndpoint shows new Endpoint Policy Server as not connected:

  1. SmartEndpoint GUI - go to '`Reporting`' tab - expand '`Activity Reports`' - click on '`Endpoint Policy Servers Status`'.
  2. Click on '`Not active`' either in the pie-chart, or in the chart legend.
  3. The '`Last Contacted Policy Server Last Contact`' column shows either '`N/A`'.

  <br />

* `messages_logs` file from the new Endpoint Policy Server contains errors similar to these:

  ```
  [2014-02-19 11:45:27,285] WARN - Error deleting file: /opt/CPuepm-R77/engine/webapps/CP/cache/INSTALLER/071A8FAF-10FF-417C-A25B-C87B9F4472C3.0.cpfd.1392828327144
  [2014-02-19 11:45:27,285] WARN - Error performing sync with EPS: Error deleting file: /opt/CPuepm-R77/engine/webapps/CP/cache/INSTALLER/071A8FAF-10FF-417C-A25B-C87B9F4472C3.0.cpfd.1392828327144
  ```

## Cause

* Security Management Server was either migrated from Windows OS or restored from a Migrate/Export file without the '`-include-msi-files`' flag.

* The '`$FWDIR/SMC_Files/uepm/msi`' directory was copied manually to the Security Management Server.

* The correct read/write execute permissions were not applied to the '`$FWDIR/conf/SMC_Files/uepm/msi`' directory on the Security Management Server.
