## Symptoms

- * After moving a computer into a domain, the following message appears the Endpoint client's UI: "Endpoint Security Client failed to send update register message to the server. Contact your administrator".
* The following error appears in server_messages.log: "A device with DA installed tried to update registration with information of another existing device"

## Cause

This could be the result of the following scenario.

1) The Endpoint Client had been installed on this computer when the computer was in the domain.

2) The computer was moved out of the domain, and the Endpoint Client was uninstalled, but "Reset Computer Data" was not performed from SmartEndpoint.

3) The Endpoint Client was again installed on this computer.

4) The computer was moved back into the domain.

Whenever an Endpoint Client is uninstalled from a computer, "Reset Computer Data" should be performed on that computer from SmartEndpoint.

If this is not done, then (among other problems) after moving the computer back into the domain, the server will try to update this computer's SID in the database, with a SID that belongs to what appears to be a separate computer.

## Solution

1) From SmartEndpoint, locate the computer that appears **inside the domain**.

2) **Be absolutely sure** that this indeed is the computer that should have had "Reset Computer Data" performed on it.

3) Perform "Reset Computer Data" on this computer.

4) The issue should be resolved the next time that this computer attempts to send an "update register" message.
