# sk93602 - How to configure VRRP cluster on Gaia with 'preempt-mode off' mode to force a complete failover for all interfaces

## Symptoms

- * When unplugging a cable from only one interface (or disabling that interface) on a cluster member participating in VRRP with '`preempt-mode off`' configured, only that one interface fails over, while all the other interfaces remain in 'Master' state.

* When plugging-in the previously unplugged cable to an interface (or re-enabling that interface), the interface stays in 'Master' state on the VRRP Backup cluster member.

* The '`no-preempt`' mode is configured on Simplified VRRP, for which a hotfix was provided per [sk92880](http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/solutions?id=sk92880).

This behaviour is per VRRP RFC.
