## Symptoms

- * After a first successful connection of the client to the site, Remote Access clients are unable to connect anymore and receives: `"Gateway is not responding"` error message.

* In the site properties on the client, you see that the site IP address changed from the IP address used to create the site to the main IP address of the Security Gateway in the Gateway General Properties.

## Cause

E75.X / E8X.X clients only support static link selection.

This means that if in SmartConsole, the **Gateway properties** \> **IPSec VPN** \> **Link Selection** \> **Use a probing method** is selected, then the setting that actually applies is the **Gateway properties** \> **IPSec VPN** \> **Link Selection** \> **Always use this IP address** \> **Main Address**.

This is why the site's IP address on the client changes from the IP address set during the site's creation to the Security Gateway main address IP address.

The result is that next time the client tries to connect, it will try to connect to a wrong IP address and fail.
