## Symptoms

- After enabling HTTP/HTTPS Proxy on the Security Gateway, the CPU utilization increased to 70%-90% (depending on traffic and the HTTPS Inspection policy).

## Cause

Enabling the HTTP/HTTPS proxy functionality can impact the Security Gateway performance in situations where SecureXL would otherwise accelerate proxied traffic.

To proxy the connection, the Security Gateway creates two separate connections:

* The first connection is from the client to the proxy server.
* The second connection is between the proxy server and the destination.

Because of this, SecureXL cannot accelerate these packets.

**Note: The HTTP/HTTPS proxy is NOT a caching proxy**. It does not cache commonly visited web pages to provide faster local access to hosts on the LAN.
