Important Notes:

To upgrade a Scalable Platform from R81.10 or R81.20 to R82, you must install the CPUSE Deployment Agent build 2550 or higher from this SK article.
To upgrade a Scalable Platform from R80.20SP, R80.30SP, R81, or R81.10 to "R81.20 for Scalable Platforms", you must install the dedicated CPUSE Deployment Agent from sk177624 - R81.20 for Scalable Platforms.
To upgrade a Scalable Platform from R80.20SP, R80.30SP, or R81 to "R81.10 for Scalable Platforms", you must install the dedicated CPUSE Deployment Agent from sk173363 - R81.10 for Scalable Platforms.

The latest CPUSE Deployment Agent build is usually gradually released to all customers. Therefore, not all Gaia servers receive the latest build at the same time.
Check Point always recommends to upgrade the CPUSE Deployment Agent to the latest available build in this SK article.
It is not supported to install a lower build of the CPUSE Deployment Agent over the current build (downgrading the CPUSE Deployment Agent is not supported).

Installation instructions for the CPUSE Deployment Agent

(2-A) Check the current build of the CPUSE Deployment Agent

Follow one of these procedures:

Show / Hide the instructions for Gaia Portal (recommended)

Instructions for the New Interface (Build 2337 and higher):

Navigate to the Software Updates section - click the Available Updates page.

Click the button Update Settings.

The build of the installed Deployment Agent appears in the Deployment Agent section.

Instructions for the Legacy Interface (Build 2297 and lower):

Navigate to the Upgrades (CPUSE) section - click the Status and Actions page.

The build of the installed Deployment Agent appears at the top.

Example:

Show / Hide the instructions for Gaia Clish / Gaia gClish

Connect to the command line on the Gaia server.

Log in.

If your default shell is the Expert mode, then:

On a Security Gateway / Management Server, go to Gaia Clish:

clish

On a Scalable Platform, go to Gaia gClish:

gclish

Run this command on a Security Gateway / Management Server / Scalable Platform:

show installer status build

(2-B) Manually install the CPUSE Deployment Agent package

Follow one of these procedures:

Instructions for the New Interface (Build 2337 and higher):

Connect to Gaia Portal and obtain the lock over the configuration database (click the lock icon at the top - near 'Sign Out').

Navigate to the Software Updates section - click the Available Updates page.

Click the button Update Settings.

In the section Deployment Agent, click Update Deployment Agent.

Click Browse for a file.

Select the CPUSE Deployment Agent TGZ package on your computer.

Click Install DA.

Example:

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Instructions for the Legacy Interface (Build 2297 and lower):

Connect to Gaia Portal and obtain the lock over the configuration database (click the lock icon at the top - near 'Sign Out').

Navigate to the Upgrades (CPUSE) section - click the Status and Actions page.

In the top right corner, click the "Install DA" button.

Example:

Browse to the Deployment Agent TGZ package on your computer.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Show / Hide the instructions for CLI

On non-Scalable Platform:

Transfer the CPUSE Deployment Agent package (DeploymentAgent_<build>.tgz) to the Gaia server (into some directory - e.g., /some_path_to_CPUSE/).

Connect to the command line on the Gaia server.

Log in.

If the default shell is the Expert mode, the go to Gaia Clish:

clish

Run:

installer agent install /<Full Path>/DeploymentAgent_<build>.tgz

Follow the instructions on the screen.

On a Scalable Platform (Maestro / Scalable Chassis):

Transfer the CPUSE Deployment Agent package (DeploymentAgent_<build>.tgz) to the Security Group (into some directory, for example /var/log/).

Connect to the command line on the Security Group.

If your default shell is /etc/gclish (Gaia gClish), then go to the Expert mode:

expert

Make sure the CPUSE Deployment Agent package exists:

ls -l /<Full Path>/<Name of CPUSE Deployment Agent Package>

Run:

update_sp_da /<Full Path>/<Name of CPUSE Deployment Agent Package>

For example:

update_sp_da /var/log/DeploymentAgent_XXXXXXXXX.tgz

Go from the Expert mode to Gaia gClish.

If the default shell is Gaia gClish, then exit the Expert mode:

exit

If the default shell is the Expert mode, then go to Gaia gClish:

gclish

Make sure all Security Group Members have the same build of the CPUSE Deployment Agent:

show installer status build

#	Instructions
1	Тo collect debug, run (no need to restart the Deployment Agent): `da_cli edit_configuration operation=add_config PING_DEBUG=1` - to activate debug `da_cli edit_configuration operation=add_config PING_DEBUG=0` - to deactivate debug (default)
2	To collect all the relevant logs, run the command: `da_cli collect_logs` It creates a TGZ file in the current working directory, including all required files to analyze the issue.
3	By default, if the Deployment Agent identifies a newer version in Download Center and if the self-update option is disabled, then the Deployment Agent blocks the operations until the latest version is installed. To bypass this, run: `da_cli edit_configuration operation=add_config ENFORCE_NEW_DA=1` - to enable the block (default) `da_cli edit_configuration operation=add_config ENFORCE_NEW_DA=0` - to disable the block
4	Symptom: "clish", "DAClient", and "da_cli" commands seem to have no effect. Solution: If MDPS is enabled on the Security Gateway, make sure that the shell runs in the management plane. When MDPS is enabled on the Security Gateway, CPUSE service runs in the management plane, any command line interaction with CPUSE should be executed in the same plane (clish, DAClient, and da_cli).
5	Symptom: Not enough free disk space on /var/log due to old packages. After upgrade the CPUSE shows only the packages that are applicable for the current version while packages of the previous version are not deleted. Solution: Use "`da_cli delete package=<name>`" Important note: Delete a package only if you are 100% sure you will not revert to a previous snapshot of this version. If, for example, after upgrade from R80.40 to R81.00, the R80.40 Jumbo Hotfix is deleted, then revert to a snapshot of R80.40 makes the system unstable.
