# sk91903 - RAID errors appear in /var/log/messages

## Symptoms

- RAID errors in */var/log/messages* file:

* `xpand[PID]: Raid Hardware recognition failed, Hardware is missing/not supported`
* `xpand[PID]: RAID monitoring: Failed to init raid`
* `xpand[PID]: Raid: card information not received`

## Cause

1. SNMP traps for RAID are enabled. Since the hardware RAID does not exist on the appliance, these error messages are generated.
2. RAID monitoring with SNMP is supported by Gaia OS and SecurePlatform OS only in R75.40 and above.

This is applicable to any appliance without hardware RAID and also for Virtual Machines (e.g., in VMware).
