# sk90442 - NTP on Smart-1 5 cannot synchronize with other NTP servers

## Symptoms

- * NTP is configured on a Smart-1 5 / 2200 appliance, but the appliance does not sync with either of the configured NTP servers
* NTP is configured on Gaia R75.45 or higher, and the NTP server responds to pings, but no NTP server is synchronized
* Running `ntpq -pnntpq` returns an error message: `read: Connection refused`
* Running ` show ntp current ` returns "`No server has yet to be synchronized`."

## Cause

The NTPD service has crashed and is unable to sync with the NTP server(s).
