## Symptoms

- SmartUpdate was used to apply a license to a firewall and a garbled error message was then displayed and the application crashed. If you run cplic print the license displayed properly, but all attempts to launch SmartUpdate after initial crush result in the application crashing. cplic db_print command does not work. This behavior does not affect SmartDashboard or any of the other applications - those appear to be working fine. Replacing CPMILinksMgr.db and applications.C does not help.

## Cause

The problem was a corrupt record in $FWDIR/conf/licenses.C
