# sk88901 - On Ubuntu, Terminal screen prompts for the root password even though there is no root user during the download of the SNX component from the SSL Network Extender Portal with a non-root user

## Symptoms

- On Ubuntu, Terminal screen prompts for the root password even though there is no root user during the download of the SNX component from the SSL Network Extender Portal with a non-root user.

## Cause

By design, it is not supported to download the SNX component via browser with a non-root user. Root user is required for this operation.

## Solution

Follow these steps:

1. Manually download the SNX component from the SSL Network Extender Portal.

2. Manually install the SNX component:

   * For the root user, use the "**`sudo`**" command:

     **`# sudo sh ./snx_install.sh`**
     Note: At after the SNX client installation, you can disable the root user.
   * For non-root users, use any Ubuntu deployment tool to manually install the SNX component.
