## Symptoms

- * Internal VPN users are enable to connect using 3rd party certificates" with "unknown user" error.
* vpnd.elg shows similar to the following:   
  \[MSGO\] MsgObj_get_def_msg: id= VPN_USER_UNKNOWN_3 example: Sent Notification to Peer c8271561: Client Encrypt Notification: User CN=thassap,OU=users,O=fwall-1..vz8bq7 unknown.

## Cause

The certificate authentication is configured to authenticate internal users with a specific suffix only.
