| Products | Security Gateway, Security Management Server, SmartConsole, Licensing |
| Versions | R82.10, R82, R81.20, Not Version-Specific, R82.20 |

## Symptoms

- * SmartView Monitor reports an incorrect expiration date for Service Blades.

* A valid Service Contract File has been installed via SmartUpdate, and output of the "*cplic print* " command on the Security Gateway shows the correct contract dates.

* "`Contract entitlement check failed`" error when installing policy.

* Policy installation reports an incorrect expiration date for Service Blades.

## Cause

An expired Service Contract File is still being read by SmartConsole. This expired contract file may be on the Security Management Server or Security Gateway.

## Solution

The ***cp.contract*** file must be removed from each involved Security Management Server, and from each involved Security Gateway that reflects incorrect renewal dates during policy installation, or in SmartView Monitor. Additionally, the SmartConsole cache files on the Management Server must be removed.

Follow these steps:

1. **Remove the Contract file**

   * On each affected Security Gateway:

     1. Connect to command line on Security Gateway.

     2. Log in to Expert mode.

     3. Stop Check Point services:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# cpstop***

     4. Remove the Contract file:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# rm $CPDIR/conf/cp.contract***

     5. Start Check Point services:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# cpstart***

     <br />

     <br />

   * On each Security Management Server:

     1. Connect to command line on Security Management Server.

     2. Log in to Expert mode.

     3. Stop Check Point services:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# cpstop***

     4. Remove the Contract file:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# rm $CPDIR/conf/cp.contract***

     5. On Management Servers R77.x only:

        Remove SmartConsole cache as described in [sk100507](http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/solutions?id=sk100507#Security Management Server running on Gaia / SecurePlatform / Linux OS).
     6. Start Check Point services:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# cpstart***

     <br />

     <br />

   * On each Domain Management Server:

     1. Connect to command line on Multi-Domain Security Management Server.

     2. Log in to Expert mode.

     3. Switch to the context of the involved Domain Management Server:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# mdsenv \<Domain_Name\>***

     4. Stop the Domain:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# mdsstop_customer \<Domain_Name\>***

     5. Remove the Contract file:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# rm $CPDIR/conf/cp.contract***

     6. Remove SmartConsole cache as described in [sk100507](http://supportcontent.checkpoint.com/solutions?id=sk100507#Multi-Domain Security Management Server).

     7. Start the Domain:

        ***\[Expert@HostName\]# mdsstart_customer \<Domain_Name\>***

   <br />

   <br />

2. **Install new Service Contract File**

   1. Connect with SmartUpdate to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.

   2. From the "Licenses \& Contracts" menu, select "Update Contracts \> From User Center".

   3. Accept Download EULA.

   4. Enter User Center credentials.

   <br />

   <br />

3. **Verify**

   1. Connect to command line on Security Gateway.

   2. Log in to Expert mode.

   3. Check the current license and contract:

      ***\[Expert@HostName\]# cplic print***
      If the "Contract Coverage" section reports "*There are no contracts for the above licenses* ", then run the command "***contract_util mgmt***".
