# sk83620 - Root partition runs out of space while running 'upgrade_export' / 'migrate export' command on Security Management Server

## Symptoms

- When running an '*upgrade_export* ' or '*migrate export*' command on Security Management Server, the root partition runs out of disk space while gathering or compressing files even if another output partition was specified.

## Cause

The '*upgrade_export* ' and '*migrate* ' utilities use a temporary directory on the root partition - *$FWDIR/tmp/migrate*, for the purpose of gathering and compressing the export file before moving the result to the location and filename specified in the command.
