## Symptoms

* The user cannot log into the SmartDomain Manager.
* Attempting to force the FWM process to start using the "`fwm mds`" command on MDS level shows:

  ```
  LICENSE PROBLEM: The license you are using for this Management either cannot be used
  LICENSE PROBLEM: for Multi-Domain Server, or has expired.
  LICENSE PROBLEM: To update your license, please consult the Check Point User Center at:
  ```

## Cause

The license installed on the Multi-Domain Management server (MDS) is missing the global policy feature (*CPSB-GBLP*), which is used to activate Multi-Domain.

## Solution

1. Apply the proper license on the MDS level.

   You can activate your license(s) by applying the 'License File' directly to your Multi-Domain Management server (from SmartUpdate: select license tab -\> SmartUpdate menu -\> Licenses and contracts -\> Add License -\> from file).

   You can also activate the license(s) using the command line instructions as provided in the 'Registration Confirmation' e-mail after licensing.

   Example:

   *Command line instructions for License Installation*

*On the Multi Domain Server: You can enter the license string while installing, or later run the 'mdsconfig' command line utility.*
*Also, you may use the 'Licenses' tab in the Multi Domain GUI.*

*Or simply enter:*

*cplic put 172.25.153.140 14Aug2020 aR3UHKxH9-o8oebLZu3-gpjDxPA75-mFptpwGCn cpsm-c-u cpsb-npm cpsb-epm cpsb-logs cpsb-gblp cpsb-comp-u CK-EDE4281200BD*

1. Perform '*mdsstop; mdsstart* '.

2. Confirm FWM process(es) are running using the '*mdsstat* ' command.

3. You should now be able to login.
