# sk80580 - "Recovery Data Creation Failed" error while creating Recovery Media

## Symptoms

- * When attempting to create recovery media on a USB flash drive, it fails with error "Recovery Data Creation Failed. Please Make sure your device is formatted and has at least 12mb of free space" ![](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/sc/SolutionsStatics/sk80580/Recovery_Creation_Failed1508181317.jpg)

* This error message will also appear if the recovery media was already created and the user tries to reuse the function once again for creating new recovery media from the existing one.
