# sk66351 - Backup or Scheduled Backup for Provider-1 on Smart-1 seems to succeed, but  restore from this backup fails

## Symptoms

- * Backup or Scheduled Backup for Provider-1 on Smart-1 seems to succeed, but restore from this backup fails.
* Error: gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file./gtar: Unexpected EOF in archive

## Cause

The mds_backup command is executed on the /var/log directory that is relatively small on appliances.

If mds_backup fails due to lack of space, there was no indication for it and mdsbackup.tgz file will be used, as if it's not corrupted. During restore, the error will be seen since the mdsbackup.tgz file was created "corrupted" on backup.
