# sk61461 - FDE installation fails on UEFI machine with "The wizard was interrupted before Check Point Endpoint Security - Full Disk Encryption could be completely installed"

## Symptoms

- * FDE installation fails with "`The wizard was interrupted before Check Point Endpoint Security - Full Disk Encryption could be completely installed.`"

* FDE installation log *C:\\ProgramData\\Pointsec\\Pointsec for PC\\FDE_install_COMPUTERNAME.txt* shows:

  `Found drive-type not supported by FDE : (C:) {xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} () , Error: partition type not supported`

## Cause

Note that this information is only relevant for the EFI system partition. The EFI system partition is a hidden partition found on UEFI systems. Specifically note that the information in this article is not applicable to general data partitions such as the Windows "C:\\" volume for example.   

On a UEFI machine, the**EFI System Partition** is formatted with NTFS.

## Solution

Correctly format the EFI System partition according to the following:

* The **EFI System partition** on UEFI/GPT systems: Must be formatted as FAT32.

**Note that UEFI is only supported on:**

* Windows 7 64-bit, by E80.51 and above
* Windows 8 32-bit and 64-bit, by E80.41 and above  
  (Windows 8 logo certified hardware with UEFI v2.3.1 or later is required)
* Windows 8.1 32-bit and 64-bit, by E80.42 and above
* Windows 10 32-bit and 64-bit, by E80.62 for the base version (1407, 1507, 1511) The E80.64 client on versions up to 1607 (RS1) and below, on E80.70 for 1703 (RS2) and below and on E80.71 for 1709 (fall creators update) and below.

In order to check whether the machine is UEFI-enabled, follow these steps:

1. Open Windows Disk Management (right-click on *My Computer* - select *Manage*)
2. With UEFI, there will be a hidden volume with the Status: "*EFI System Partition*".
