## Symptoms

- * Editing a Virtual System / VSX Gateway object in the SmartDashboard fails with "Failed to retrieve VSX details'" error.
  SmartDashboard might crash.

* "`Failed to connect to the Domain Management Server managing the VSX gateway/cluster. Please make sure that the active Domain Management Server is up`" pop-up when opening Virtual System object properties, which is managed by a Domain Management Server.

* The following error is seen in the Traceutil debug of the SmartDashboard:

  ```
  General Error: Failed to convert cpmix to DLE
  Error Code:    26 (Schema type not found)
  ```

* Restarting the involved Security Management Server / Domain Management Server does not help.

## Cause

Possible reasons:

* SmartDashboard tries to determine the Main Domain Management Server that manages the VSX Gateway / VSX Cluster by looking up the active Domain that is defined in the Virtual System's object properties in attribute "*: main_customer ()* " in the *$FWDIR/conf/objects_5_0.C* file. This error appears if the Domain is not running, or if the Domain does not exist anymore (e.g., Domain with VSX objects was migrated and then renamed).

* SmartConsole cache issues on the involved Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.
