# sk42886 - Difference between 'uptime' of SmartView Monitor and Firewall

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk42886 |
| Date Created | 2009-10-07 |
| Last Modified | 2017-10-29 |
| Technical Level | General |
| Products | SmartConsole |
| Versions | R82.10, R82.20, R82, R81.20 |

## Symptoms

- When looking at the uptime of the Firewall on the SmartView Monitor we see different uptime output than the uptime output we see when running the "uptime" command on the Gateway

## Cause

There is no problem with the output on neither of them.
The "uptime" command on the Gateway shows the total uptime of the server itself.

The "uptime" output on the SmartView Monitor shows the uptime of the Check Point product, which means that the latest cpstart on the Firewall or if "cpd" process is restarted, will set the counter of SmartView Monitor back to 0 while it will have no effect on the output of the "uptime" command on the Firewall.

**Note:** From R80.10 version the setting is in SmartConsole \> Gateways and Servers \> Summary \> Device and License information

## Solution

No fix is required; the system is functioning as designed.
