## Symptoms

- *$FWDIR/boot/modules/fwkern.conf* file is empty (or contains only default kernel parameters) after upgrading the Security Gateway to a newer Major Release.

## Cause

This behavior is by design. During the upgrade to a newer Major Release, the default files are being copied over the existing files.
