## Solution

### Background

The parameter "***om_extended_dhcp_params***" (located in SmartConsole R80 and higher \> "Menu" button \> "Global properties" / SmartDashboard R77.30 and lower \> "Policy" menu \> "Global Properties") controls the support for Extended DHCP Options for SecureClient / Endpoint Security VPN client.

When you enable this parameter, the Security Gateway, to which these Remote Access VPN clients connect, sends the corresponding data to the applicable DHCP Server.

For example, SecureClient / Endpoint Security VPN clients could be accessible not only through their IP address, but also through their *hostname*.

Supported Extended DHCP Options:

|--------------------|----------------------------------------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|------------------------------------------|
| DHCP Option Number | DHCP Option Name | DHCP Option Description | Corresponding Command in Windows OS |
| 12 | [Hostname](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2132#section-3) | Specifies the hostname string of a DHCP client computer (for example, "*My_PC*"). | `hostname` |
| 81 | [Client FQDN](http://www.iana.org/go/rfc4702) | Specifies the Fully Qualified Domain Name of a DHCP client computer (for example, "*my_pc.company.com*"). | N / A |
| 60 | [Class Id](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2132#section-8) | Specifies the Vendor Class Identifier. DHCP Clients and DHCP Servers use this DHCP option to exchange vendor-specific information. The definition of this information is vendor specific (for example, for Windows 2000, the Class ID is "*MSFT 5.0*"). | N / A |
| 77 | [User Class](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3004) | Specifies the User Class Information. DHCP clients use this DHCP option to identify the type or category of user or applications it represents. DHCP Servers use the User Class option to choose the IP address pool from which they allocate an IP address and to select any other configuration option. | `ipconfig /setclassid adapter [classid]` |
