## Symptoms

- After successfully doing an import on a new system, when you try to change the Object Name of the Management Station, you will encounter an error if your new system has a different IP address than the original one.

Before renaming, please close SmartDashboard, open SmartUpdate and detach the license. For the detach of the license to work the IP address of the new machine must match the licenses in SmartUpdate.

## Solution

Proceed as follows:
{#SPAN6332125}

1. If using the same IP address will cause a conflict and the IP address of this host needs to be different, take the machine into an isolated environment and give it the old IP address of the original Management Station.
2. Redo the Import on the machine with the changed IP address now in the TCP/IP Properties.
3. You will now be able to successfully detach the license from SmartDashboard.
4. At this point you will not have a license on your Management Station. You will need to re-add the centralized Management Station that was bound to the TCP/IP properties. Perform cpstop and cpstart at this point.
5. You can now go into the Management Object and rename it. At this point you will need to reset SIC with any firewalls that were managed by the Old Management Station name to resume communications.
