## Symptoms

- Error messages when restoring the MDS from backup:

* ./mds_restore No such file or directory

* mds_restore\> ./gtar is missing. Aborting.

* mds_restore\> ./gzip is missing. Aborting.

## Solution

The `mds_backup` script puts all the needed files in the backup directory. The correct procedure is to store the `mds_restore, gtar` and `gzip` with the backup file.

To resolve the problem, copy the `$MDSDIR/scripts/mds_restore` script and the `$MDS_SYSTEM/shared/gtar` and `gzip` utilities into the directory from which you run the restore.
