# sk185266 - SNMP Daemon Unexpectedly Exits During CPStat Table Queries on Gaia Security Gateway

## Symptoms

- * The SNMP daemon (snmpd) exits unexpectedly and repeatedly.
* An external monitoring system, such as Zabbix, polls multiple SNMP Object Identifiers (OIDs).
* System logs show repeated snmpd segmentation faults.
* The process manager automatically restarts snmpd after each failure.
* The snmpd restart count continuously increases.
* A core dump for snmpd is generated.
* Monitoring interruptions may occur during repeated restarts.

## Cause

Under specific conditions, SNMP polling requests that query CPStat table information can trigger a condition in the SNMP and CPStat processing flow on Gaia.

When the affected query path is reached, the snmpd process may terminate unexpectedly and restart automatically.

Available case data shows that SNMP polling from external monitoring platforms, including Zabbix, can trigger the affected query flow.
