## Symptoms

- * The Alert LED remains red, and the */var/log/messages* file repeatedly shows this message:
  *FrontStageServerThread: unable to create thread lcd: alert on/off*

* The issue persists after reboot.

* No hardware failures appear in CPInfo, HCP, or hardware logs.

* Both power supply units (PSUs) are connected and operating normally.

*
  The Gaia Clish command `show sysenv fans` shows a fan speed that is close to, or exceeds, the value in the **Maximum** column, or is close to, or below, the value in the **Minimum** column.

*
  In Gaia Portal, **Maintenance \> Hardware Health** shows the status **High** or **Low** for the corresponding fan sensor.

## Cause

A software condition causes the system to incorrectly identify the fan status as an active hardware alert, even though the hardware components are operating normally.
