# sk185209 - Secure Internal Communication fails after cloning a Domain Management Server

## Symptoms

- * After cloning a source Domain Management Server (DMS) to a new cloned DMS, Secure Internal Communication (SIC) fails for the newly cloned domain secondary server.

* Audit logs show repeated SIC authentication failures after the clone operation.

* SmartConsole shows the cloned DMS secondary server as **Not Communicating**.

* SmartConsole displays a SIC error that indicates the peer sent an incorrect Distinguished Name (DN).  


  Example:  


  *Peer sent wrong DN: CN=cp_mgmt_cloned-domain-secondary,O=source-domain...*

* The *cpm_doctor* utility reports ICA and SIC validation failures.

* The *cpm_doctor* utility detects SIC name mismatches between the certificate, database, and registry.

* Policy or database installation remains stuck at:  

  *Installing Database 0%...*

## Cause

The cloned Domain Management Server did not complete the Secure Internal Communication (SIC) reset process successfully. As a result, the cloned DMS retained inconsistent SIC and Internal Certificate Authority (ICA) information.
This condition can cause mismatches between:  

* The SIC certificate file (*sic_cert.p12*)
* The registry value *MySICname*
* The SIC name stored in the management database
* The Certificate Authority data stored in the management object
