# sk185189 - Windows Reboots Unexpectedly During Endpoint Security Upgrade

## Symptoms

- * During an Endpoint upgrade, the installation completes successfully and reports MSI exit code 3010, which indicates that a reboot is required for the changes to take effect.
* A few minutes after the upgrade completes, the Windows machine reboots unexpectedly without displaying the expected reboot prompt to the user.
* The Endpoint client log contains entries similar to:  
  `[debug] SwMng: installation finished successfully: [newInstGetMSIProcessStatus]`  
  `[debug] MSIInstaller exit code: 3010 [newInstGetMSIProcessStatus]`
* The log may also contain entries similar to:  
  `[debug] Startup: Init COM [CDA::threadMethod]`  
  `[error] Startup: Failed to CoInitializeSecurity. Error code = 0x80010119 [CDA::threadMethod]`

## Cause

Unexpected behavior in the CPDA process resulted to terminate unexpectedly after a successful upgrade that requires a reboot. As a result, the process does not retrieve the previous installation status and does not display the expected reboot prompt. A new CPDA process initiates the required Windows reboot automatically.
