# sk185130 - Azure unregister_netdevice error during SR-IOV interface rescan

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk185130 |
| Date Created | 2026-07-08 |

| Technical Level | General |
| Products | Cloud Firewall |
| Versions | R82.10 |
| OS | Gaia |
| Platform | Azure |

## Symptoms

- * The following error is written to `/var/log/messages` every 10 seconds and is continuously displayed when connecting to the gateway via SSH or the serial console:
`unregister_netdevice: waiting for enP... to become free. Usage count = 3`
* When this error occurs, the VM hangs during reboot and requires a hard restart from the Azure portal.
* In some cases, the Cloud Firewall Gateway becomes unresponsive following a Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator installation. The reboot begins but does not complete, causing the VM to hang. Recovery requires a hard restart from the Azure portal.
* In rare scenarios, the USIM process may crash, generating a core dump and rebooting the Cloud Firewall Gateway.

## Cause

After an Azure-triggered SR-IOV hot-unplug event, an issue in the unregister and rescan flow causes incomplete network device cleanup. This results in the repeated `unregister_netdevice` errors.

## Solution

1. Install [R82.10 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 40](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R82.10/Default.htm) or higher.
2. Contact [Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for this issue.
