# sk184911 - Expired license appears in SmartConsole after it was deleted from Security Gateway

## Symptoms

- * The list and the status of licenses in SmartConsole ("Gateways \& Servers" view \> Security Gateway object \> bottom panel \> "Licenses" tab) does not match the output of the "`cplic print`" command on the Security Gateway:

  * SmartConsole shows an expired license is attached to the Security Gateway.

  * The "`cplic print`" command on the Security Gateway does not show the expired license (as expected).

* Not possible to remove an expired license in SmartUpdate \> "Licenses and Contracts" tab. The license entry remains visible after each delete attempt.

## Cause

The Security Management Server database still contains an expired license object. This occurred because the license was previously removed from the Security Gateway, but the corresponding license object in the Security Management Server database was not updated correctly and remained associated with the Security Gateway object.
