## Symptoms

- When you upload an IOC feed file that contains SHA-256 hash values, SmartConsole displays the following error:

`illegal hash/illegal sha`

## Cause

One or more SHA-256 hash values in the IOC feed file do not meet the required format requirements. Examples include:

* The hash value is not 64 hexadecimal characters long.
* The hash value contains unsupported characters.
* The hash value contains spaces, prefixes, or other non-hexadecimal characters.
