# sk184882 - Endpoint Security Client for Windows Uninstall Is Stuck in Preparation Loop

## Symptoms

- When attempting to uninstall the Endpoint Security client for Windows from Programs and Features, the uninstall process remains stuck at `Preparing to uninstall` and does not complete.

## Cause

During the uninstall process, the Endpoint Security client requires Windows Administrator elevation through User Account Control (UAC).

If UAC is configured to suppress elevation prompts (for example, set to *Never notify*), the uninstall process cannot obtain the required permissions and does not continue.

## Solution

1. Log in to the affected device using a local Windows Administrator account.
2. Ensure that UAC allows elevation prompts (do not suppress prompts).
3. Open *Control Panel* \> *Programs and Features*.
4. Uninstall the Endpoint Security client.
5. After successful uninstallation, restore the original UAC configuration if it was changed temporarily.  
   **Note** - Do not permanently disable UAC prompts, as this reduces system security.
