# sk184862 - "couldn't get otelcol config exit status 1" error when running the Skyline "sklnctl" command on a Security Gateway

## Symptoms

- When you run a Skyline `sklnctl` command on the Security Gateway, the command fails with this error:

`couldn't get otelcol config exit status 1`

Note: `sklnctl` is a CLI tool for administrators to interact with the configuration of different Skyline components. For more information about this tool, refer to the "CLI Syntax for sklnctl" section of the [Skyline Administration Guide](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Appliances/Skyline/Content/Topics-AG/sklnctl.htm).

## Cause

The local OpenTelemetry Collector (otelcol) dynamic configuration is unsynchronized with the Skyline process. As a result, Skyline cannot retrieve the active otelcol configuration.
