## Symptoms

- * Ivanti Security Control cannot complete scans on Windows virtual machines running the Harmony Endpoint Security Client.
* Connections from the Protect Console to the target machine drop on TCP 139 or TCP 445.
* Ping from the Protect Console to the target machine fails or times out.

## Cause

**This behavior is not related to Check Point Harmony Endpoint.**

Ivanti Security Control uses SMB-based agentless scanning, which requires TCP ports 139 and 445 to be reachable.
The issue occurs when:

* The specified host does not exist or is offline.
* A local firewall, network firewall, or port filtering device blocks inbound SMB traffic.
* DNS resolution returns an incorrect or mismatched IP address.
