# sk184643 - An SNMP query for OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.16.3 returns an empty string on Virtual Machines/CGNS Gateways

## Symptoms

- * When querying the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.16.3 on Virtual Machines/CGNS Gateways, an empty string is returned for the serial number.
* Other OIDs within the `svnProductsGroup`, such as `svnVersion` and `osName`, return correct values.
* SNMP queries for the serial number fail only on virtual devices, not on physical appliances.
* Example SNMP output:  
  `
  $ snmpwalk -v2c -c public 10.0.0.10 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.16.3
  SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2620.1.6.16.3 = ""`
