## Symptoms

- * CME GUI shows certain templates as unconnected.
* After you associate a new template with a cloud account, CME deletes Gateway Objects from an older template.
* Gateway objects are unexpectedly deleted from the Security Management Server after you associate a template with a cloud account in the CME GUI.

## Cause

This issue occurs when no template was previously associated with a given cloud account.

Before you associate a template, CME scans all templates in the configuration.

After you associate a new template, CME switches to scanning cloud Security Gateways and returns only those Security Gateways that contain tags of templates currently associated with the cloud account. CME no longer detects Security Gateways with old template tags that are not associated with the cloud account.

CME compares the cloud Security Gateways with the gateway objects stored in Security Management Server. Because CME no longer recognizes Security Gateways with old template tags, it deletes these gateway objects.

The common use case for this issue is when `autoprov_cfg` was used for the initial CME configuration and CME GUI was used for later configurations.
