# sk184627 - Email Notifications Sent for Successful Scheduled-Backups Despite "Fail Only" Setting in Gaia OS

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk184627 |
| Date Created | 2026-02-03 |
| Last Modified | 2026-02-04 |
| Technical Level | General |
| Products | Security Gateway, Security Management Server |
| Versions | R82.10, R82, R82.10, R82 |
| OS | Gaia |

## Symptoms

- * Administrators receive email notifications for each successful scheduled-backup on Gaia operating system after enabling notifications on the device.
* The backup notification level is configured to **Send notification if a scheduled-backup is failing**, but notifications are still sent for successful backups.
* Notification email states:
  *Gaia's scheduled-backup has succeeded.*

## Cause

A problem in the scheduled-backup notification logic in the Gaia operating system caused the system to send email notifications for both successful and failed backups, regardless of the configured notification level.
As a result, the system does not honor the **Send notification if a scheduled-backup is failing** setting, causing unnecessary notifications for successful backups.
