# sk184600 - Gaia API Timezone Validation Fails for Timezones with Special Characters or Sub-Zones

## Symptoms

- * Attempt to set the system timezone using the Gaia API command `set-time-and-date` fails when the timezone string contains special characters such as '-', '_', or '+', or when using timezones with extra sub-zones (for example, America/Indiana/Indianapolis).
* The Gaia API returns a validation error:  
  `{`  
  ` "code": "err_validation_failed",`  
  ` "errors": "timezone is invalid timezone",`  
  ` "message": "Validation Error"`  
  `} `
* The same timezone values work correctly when set via Gaia CLISH.
