## Symptoms

- * API calls to the Secondary Management Server fail or timeout.

* The output of the `api status` command on the Secondary Management Server shows the API service as stopped.

* PRO Support or monitoring tools report API connectivity issues to the Secondary Management Server IP.

* After a Management High Availability (HA) failover, API-dependent operations (automation scripts, integrations, diagnostics collection) fail.

* The Web API service is not listed in the output of the `cpwd_admin list` on the Secondary Management Server.

## Cause

The API service on the Secondary Management Server is not running or fails because of one or more of these conditions:

* API service fails to start after a reboot or upgrade.

* SSL certificate problems prevent API initialization.

* API server crashes, and auto-restart fails.

* Another process uses TCP port 443 (HTTPS).

* Management High Availability (HA) synchronization problems affect the Secondary Management Server.

* Insufficient memory or CPU prevent service startup.

* API configuration files are damaged during synchronization.

In a High Availability (HA) Management Server configuration, the Secondary (standby) Management Server's API service may become unavailable or unresponsive.

While this does not have an effect usual operations when the Primary Management Server is active, it poses a risk if failover occurs.
