| Products | Security Gateway |
| Versions | R82.10, R82 |

## Symptoms

- * After upgrading to R82 Take 41, the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) daemon (iked) process on the Quantum Security Gateway unexpectedly exits repeatedly.
* The issue continues after upgrading to R82 Take 43 and is present in R82.10.
* Multiple core dumps are generated, all showing similar backtraces.
* Virtual Private Network (VPN) and IKE-related services are intermittently unavailable due to the process unexpectedly exiting.
* The ike debug ikeon command does not start debugging for all IKE processes on the first attempt, requiring multiple executions.
* Example error message:
  ``
  Core was generated by `/opt/CPsuite-R82/fw1/bin/iked'.``
  ``
  Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault. ``
  ``
  #0 cpRealBuffer::Append (this=0x7f8c2c000b20, buf=0x7f8c2c000c30, len=128) at cpRealBuffer.cpp:112``

## Cause

A software defect in R82 Take 41 affects the IKE daemon (iked) process. Analysis of the core dumps reveals a consistent failure in the `cpRealBuffer::Append` function, which is part of the IKE payload encoding logic.
