# sk184369 - SmartConsole shows loss of connectivity to a Virtual Switch

## Symptoms

- SmartConsole displays a `lost connection` for the Virtual Switch after an upgrade of a VSX Gateway or a Multi-Domain Sever.

Note: Provisioning of Virtual Systems and Virtual Switches continues to function normally.

## Cause

After a VSX Gateway or Multi-Domain Server upgrade, the Secure Internal Communication (SIC) certificate between the Security Management Server and the Virtual Switch may become invalid. As a result, SmartConsole is unable to maintain connectivity with the Virtual Switch.
