## Symptoms

- * When you open the Security Gateway or Standalone object in SmartConsole and attempt to save changes, the following error appears:

  ```
  failed to save object . Fields values contradict ? Failed to validate class 'gateway' ? 'Allocate IP Addresses From' should not be NULL
  ```

* SmartConsole sessions are discarded when you try to update the affected object.
* The same error appears even if you close the edit window without saving changes.

## Cause

The Secure Remote IP pool allocation fields become unset during upgrade or object modification, resulting in a NULL value.
