# sk184347 - Skyline Monitoring does not display some Gateways after applying Open Telemetry Collector AutoUpdater Take 210

## Symptoms

- * After installing Open Telemetry (CPotelcol) Collector Autoupdater Take 210, Skyline Monitoring does not display some Gateways.

  Note: Manually rolling back the CPotelcol update restores the export of metrics.
* Affected appliances stop sending metrics to Skyline Monitoring.

* Logs for the Prometheus Remote Write exporter in the `/var/log/metrics.txt` file show persistent errors such as `context deadline exceeded`.

* Resetting the Prometheus Remote Write exporter, rebooting the appliances, or rebooting Skyline hosts does not restore monitoring visibility.

## Cause

AutoUpdate Take 210 introduces a change that routes OTLP traffic through proxy settings configured in:

* Gaia OS
* Security Management Server properties

If a proxy is configured, CPotelcol attempts to send metrics to the Prometheus endpoint through the proxy, but the proxy does not support this traffic type. This causes connection failures and dropped metrics.

To confirm this, examine the proxy configuration in `$CPDIR/tmp/umis_objects.C` and look for logs containing `context deadline exceeded` errors from the Prometheus Remote Write exporter.
