## Symptoms

- * VPN tunnel traffic may be vulnerable to route hijacking.
* Malicious or compromised DHCP servers could redirect VPN traffic outside the encrypted tunnel
* Routing table manipulations during active VPN session.
* Exposure to Tunnel Vision vulnerability.

## Cause

Tunnel Vision attacks exploit DHCP Option 121 (Classless Static Routes) to inject specific routes into the VPN client's routing table. These injected routes may override VPN-protected paths and redirect traffic to attacker-controlled infrastructure.

Without active route monitoring, the VPN client may not detect:

* Addition of overlapping routes
* Deletion of existing VPN routes
* Changes in route metrics or parameters that redirect traffic
