# sk184238 - Static routes on Cluster member disappear after ClusterXL HA failover and failback

## Symptoms

- * Static routes disappear from the routing table of a Cluster High Availability (HA) member after a failover and failback.

* Routes learned by Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) were preferred over static routes, contrary to the expected protocol ranking.

* PRTG network monitoring platform reports intermittent ICMP probe drops (1-3 timeouts per 10 probes).

* Static routes reappear only after manually changing protocol rank or refreshing the routing table.

## Cause

The static route monitoring configuration uses both *monitored-ip* and *ping* methods enabled for the same routes. If one of the methods fails because of latency, instability, or misconfiguration, the route is marked unreachable and removed. This causes OSPF routes to be preferred over static routes.
