# sk184225 - Spark Firewall fails to install SD-WAN Policy with the event "Failed to Initialize VPN Transports"

## Symptoms

- * In Infinity Portal \> SD-WAN service, the installation of the SD-WAN Policy on a Quantum Spark Gateway / Cluster fails.

* In the SD-WAN service, the "Monitor" view \> "Events" shows "`Failed to initialize VPN Transports`".

* The `$FWDIR/log/sdwan_steering.elg` file on the Quantum Spark Gateway / Cluster Member contains these errors:

  * `int SDWVpnAddPeerNameToMainIp(std::__cxx11::string, sdw_ipaddr_t):error: failed to emplace peer_name=<Name of VPN Peer> peer_mainip=<IP Address of VPN Peer>`

  * `int SDWVpnInitTransports(const SDWVpnPeerJsonMap&):error: Failed for community <Name of Mesh VPN Community>
    void SDWIPCHandlePolicy(const SDWPolicyIpcMsgType&, SDWPolicyIpcRetValue&): Failed to initalize VPN transports`

## Cause

An internal issue in the SD-WAN steering process prevents proper configuration of the VPN peers that belong to a Mesh VPN Community.

## Solution

[Contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for this issue - improved firmware image for Quantum Spark Gateways.

A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing it.  
For faster resolution and verification, collect the [CPinfo](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk92739) file from the Quantum Spark Gateway / each Cluster Member involved in the case.
