# sk184159 - Remote Access VPN SAML Authentication fails with the error "An unexpected error has occurred. You may still be able to continue working normally. Please retry accessing the web page in a short while"

## Symptoms

- * Remote access VPN SMAL authentication fails with this error:

  `An unexpected error has occurred. You may still be able to continue working normally. Please retry accessing the web page in a short while.`
* The Security Gateway debug logs for the applicable VS do not contain the `idpPolicy.xml` configuration file in the allowed path.

## Cause

The `open_basedir `restriction on VS0 does not contain the directory `/opt/CPSamlPortal/CTX/CTX00005/phpincs`.

As a result, the SAML portal process cannot access the `idpPolicy.xml `configuration file, causing the authentication failure.
