| Platform | Smart-1 |

## Symptoms

- * The Multi-Domain Server (MDS) unexpectedly rebooted.

* Kernel logs may show these errors:

  * `[Hardware Error]: Error Status: Multi-bit ECC error on DIMM_B1`
  * `[Hardware Error]: Corrected error, no action required`
* Lights Out Management (LOM) interface reports multi-bit memory errors on a DIMM.

* System memory shows less than expected size. For example, 376 GB instead of approximately 400 GB.

* DIMM location is reported as "not present" for one or more memory modules.

## Cause

The reboot was triggered by a hardware failure in the system memory. Kernel logs and LOM diagnostics identified multi-bit memory errors on a DIMM (for example DIMM_B1). This indicates a faulty or unseated RAM module. The memory fault caused a critical system halt due to memory failure, resulting in the server reboot.
