# sk183920 - Skyline Scraping Shows Empty "Device" Metric

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk183920 |
| Date Created | 2025-10-27 |
| Last Modified | 2025-10-29 |
| Technical Level | General |
| Products | Security Gateway, Security Management Server, Multi-Domain Security Management Server |
| Versions | R82, R81.20, R81.10 (EOS), R82, R81.20, R81.10 (EOS), R81.10 (EOS), R81.20, R82 |

## Symptoms

- * When Skyline Scraping is enabled (see the [Skyline Administration Guide](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Appliances/Skyline/Default.htm)), the metric output includes a "Device" field with an empty value.

* The command `"curl cli -k http://127.0.0.1:9090/metrics | grep device"` shows:
  `
  system_network_io_receive {device=" ", host_name="GW1" ...`

## Cause

The Device is a legacy attribute from older software versions that is no longer applicable to interfaces.
The attribute was removed from CPView. However, since Skyline's mechanism retrieves data from CPView databases, the field still appears as a blank space.

## Solution

You can safely ignore the Device attribute. If you want to remove it from the Skyline's reply:
